Course Description

During the last decade, new and important treatment options have emerged for patients with heart valve diseases. Surgical repair techniques have expanded from mitral to the aortic valve and transcatheter, percutaneous techniques are more and more available to treat not only patients with aortic and mitral stenosis, but also mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. However, the choice among the different therapeutic options available to treat a patient with severe heart valve disease depends critically on the underlying valve anatomy and pathophysiology of the defect. Three.dimensional echocardiography is the most cost-effective and safest imaging technique to assess the functional anatomy of the heart valves and to quantify their geometry. In this course, world renown experts in three-dimensional echocardiography share their knowledge and clinical expertise about the basics of three-dimensional echocardiography technique and how to use it to assess mitral, aortic and tricuspid valve.
